The Nicest Thing

I really like this song...I know, I'm such a girl.

I wish I was your favourite girl,
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world.
I wish I was your favourite smile,
I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style.

I wish you couldn't figure me out,
But you always wanna know what I was about.
I wish you'd hold my hand when I was upset,
I wish you'd never forget the look on my face when we first met.

Basically, I wish that you loved me,
I wish that you needed me,
I wish that you knew when I said two sugars, actually I meant three.

I wish that without me your heart would break,
I wish that without me you'd be spending the rest of your nights awake.
I wish that without me you couldn't eat,
I wish I was the last thing on your mind before you went to sleep.

Christian Louboutin

Katie Shannon sent me this ad (a few weeks ago, I've been meaning to post it)...
We were planning to head up to LA to meet him and then realized we were going to be in GA.

Oh well...maybe when I do meet him I will be able to share how much I love wearing his shoes...not just looking at them.

Stranger Photos

Ryanne sent me this link about a man who tied a disposable camera to a park bench with a note:

Good afternoon,
I attached this camera to the ben
ch so you could take pictures. Seriously. So have fun. I'll be back later this evening to pick it up.

What a fun idea...

The Times They Are A-Changin'

Coming back from an international trip, everyone asks two things:

1) How was it?
2) Are you jet-lagged?

Coming home from London, I'm typically okay. I get really sleepy around 8 o'clock at night, but usually only day one. I guess staying up until 3am was a good idea?

It does take a few days for my stomach to re-learn the time.

So, I ate a cheeseburger for breakfast this morning.
It was the only thing that sounded delicious.
And it was.

Two Lists...

Today I've been traveling...all day long...
I got up early finished packing, put the couch bed away...
Then took a "shower" (my friends Pete and Becca do not have a shower, so I washed my hair using a small pitcher in their bathtub...which, incidentally, has two faucets, so I had to fill 3/4 warm and 1/4 cold so as not to burn or freeze my scalp. Needless to say, the crown of my head still has some shampoo in it...)
After all of this, I grabbed the two large suitcases, a carry-on and purse and made my way through the London underground system to Heathrow Airport.
I flew from London to Houston and I will fly to Orange County soon...I had about 2 hours so I bought some internet because I would rather pay $7 for 2 hours of internet than eat Wendy's because I have no other way to kill time...

Throughout this journey, I've been making a list of things I could blog about...and another of things that make me an idiot. So, here goes nothing:

THINGS THAT MAKE ME AN IDIOT:
* I have three pair of sunglasses in my purse
* I also have a pocket Yahtzee and a coin purse full of American gift cards
* Oh, and my checkbook...because who doesn't need that on an international vacation?
* I said (out loud) "hello, lover" when I saw the Starbucks in the Houston airport
* I watched three episodes of Grey's Anatomy on the plane and cried through each of them...I'm pretty sure the stewardess kept walking by with water to see if I was okay.
* I have so many books in my carry-on that the man at security asked if I was sure I had taken my laptop out since the bag was still so heavy.
* I have been reading blogs in the airport and laughing out loud

THINGS I'VE WANTED TO BLOG ABOUT:
* Bowling alleys, airports and Target customer service desks all have the same smell.
* Who would eat at a seafood restaurant in the airport? Yuck.
* What is so difficult about stepping off of the moving walkway? Really, you have to stop walking, look down and jump?
* Is it disgusting to eat a tuna sandwich before getting on an airplane?
* Am I arrogant to be proud of myself for traveling alone with two giant, heavy suitcases and not needing any help up and down stairs?
* Is it a bad thing that I wish I were still in London?
* If there are three seats and the middle passenger doesn't show up, who gets use of that seat: standard shot-gun rules? or joint-custody law?

It's Blog, It's Blog...It's Better Than Bad, It's Good...

So, my friend Sam started a blog because I blog...it is brilliant.

His friend Emily started one because he blogs...read it, love it.

Peer pressure is not always a bad thing.

I Want To Be Me

I learned how to be me:
Parents, siblings, friends,
Neighbors, co-workers, celebrities.
Taking a little here...leaving a little there.
Watching the way others live.
The way they react.
The way they interact.
Through others, I learned how to tie my shoes, brush my teeth, dress myself.
And then I learned how I should dress myself, look myself, be myself.
I learn, the good and the bad, from those around me.
And I teach, the good and the bad, to those around me.
I want to be me.
I don't want to compare myself to others, but I want to aspire to be like them.
I don't want to change and become who I am not, but I do want to be better than I am.
How confusing it is to grow up...
Excellent news that I can learn to do that, too.

Seriously...I Love It Here...

Two days without blogging, I was half expecting an email from my mother asking if everything is alright...It's been a few very fun days in London...full of nothings and somethings that have made them memorable. I have taken a total of 20(ish) pictures in the week...few of them have been of people and none of them have been of me.
Here's a run through the last few days:

SUNDAY...
Shopping, walking, site-seeing...among other things, we saw Freddie Mercury's house.

Santi carried this box of Cheez-Its all day...and so, insisted that it be the focal point of his picture in front of Freddie's door. Oh, he also wrote "I Love David Bowie" amidst the graffiti of love to Queen. Though the highlight of his day was (without a doubt) the man out front of the Natural History Museum...with a giant Taz tattoo on his bicep...or, the pigeon with the neck tumor...he loved that too.

After a bit more walking, we had some dinner and headed to Headspace...the evening services at Church.co.uk...and then hung around with some friends and had an interesting (and slightly heated) conversation...

MONDAY...
I spent the day walking in the rain...no real destination...no umbrella...just walking with my iPod and my wet jeans. It was so great...so relaxing. I moved out of the boys house and in with Pete and Becca who have been my friends for years...
They had two friends over for dinner (which Pete made)...and then we played a new board game (I won two of the three games)...I laughed so hard at Pete and Tim being so competitive...I learned some very fun new phrases that I can't wait to bring home with me...

TUESDAY...
I walked around for a bit and then met up with Josh Peters...we sat in a park for a very, very long time talking about a whole bunch of stuff...then we had some food, and a coffee, walked through a few parks (in typical Josh Peters fashion) and ended up checking emails and such at the church (also in Josh fashion)...we've been on facebook and myspace reminiscing of old Saddleback interns and staff members...it's been a great afternoon...
We'll head out soon to meet the boys for dinner...so, it should be another excellent night.

I love being in London...not sure I'm ready to come home yet...
Though, I do miss my comfortable friends...and my nice big bed.

Larry Tate, Tate Donovan, Tatum O'Neal, Channing Tatum, Little Man Tate

We spent the afternoon at the Tate Modern.
I love that place...
I love to look at a piece and wonder how it was conceived, how it was created...
I love the idea that someone dreamed and made it happen...that they were undeterred by friends or family members telling them it would never work, or it was a waste of time.
I love to see painting, sculptures, photographs; what was once a piece of one imagination and is now requiring the imagination of another to be completely understood and appreciated.

We looked and studied...we read and wrote down...we thought and appreciated.
Honestly...such a great day.

Dear Jake,

Yesterday, as I was shopping in Urban Outfitters, I heard a song I think you might enjoy.
It was a mix of "Hangin' Tough" by New Kids on the Block and "Hypnotize" by Notorious BIG.
I sang (in my head) every word...and thought, I can't wait to blog about this...

If you already own it, or know how I can get it, please let me know.

Bill Cosby Would Have Been Proud Today

Today, while riding the bus, I heard this kid say to the woman he was with, "I'm five and he's four, right?" and she said, "He's 4 and 11 months." The kid, "So I'm bigger than him, right?" She said, "You are older, yes." The kid: "So, I can tell him what to do and he has to listen?" She said, "He has to listen to his mommy, just like you have to listen to yours. If you tell him what to do, you are a bully and you don't want to be a bully, right?" The kid agreed that he did not want to be a bully...

Then, in Top Shop, a little kid in a stroller turned and asked me, "Where's Harry Potter?" and, without hesitation, the mother said, "Harry's at home, dear."

It's conversations like these that make me excited to be a mom someday...

More London

So, I made it in the house...it was a fun part of the day, sitting out front...something I wouldn't usually do.

And then, after two confusing bus rides (passing the correct exit both times)...I found the boys.
It's almost as if I haven't been away from them for 6 weeks...we fell back in to normalcy so easily.

Dinner at Wagamama and another bus ride home...we unpacked the food I brought them (4 canisters of Pringles and a box of Funfetti cake...you would have thought it was Christmas).

I'm laying in my bed right now, completely exhausted, and still a little too excited to sleep.
I can't wait to spend the day in the city tomorrow!

I love inexpensive (staying with friends, finding a cheaper flight) international adventures!

Here Is London...

2 Planes, 2 tubes, and a long, long walk later, I'm sitting out front of the house in London waiting for the family to return to let me in.

I read for a bit and then fell asleep.
I asked a stranger if I could use his phone to call and try to get in the house...he said yes, but it went to voicemail...

Luckily, there is wireless a-plenty out on the front step...so I checked my email, myspace and facebook...then played photobooth for a bit...and now I'm blogging...I'm running out of things to do, so I hope they get home soon...

There's a killer glare on my screen right now. I can't believe how many fingerprints I've never noticed...so I can't tell what this picture actually looks like...oh well.

I do love London...

I Love Washing Machines

Jaime had an entire conversation at lunch today about his love for washing machines...

"I fell in love with them when I worked at Circuit City out of college."

"Oh, the Kenmore H series is my favorite."

Then he proceeded to talk about front-load vs. top-load and the difference in detergents and what is best for your washing machine.

It's moments like these that make me love Jaime.

I Love My Mom

It's her birthday tomorrow...
She's the best...but I'll bet you already knew that.

Oh, Hey Mrs. Copple

I saw my 1st and 2nd Grade teacher today.
She told me that I'm exactly the same as I was when I was 7.
Evidently, when I was in her class, I asked if I could push my desk up against the wall so I could use the bulletin board to hang a photo of my love: Jordan Knight. (He's the one in the overalls in case you're wondering...I know, even as a child I loved classy dudes.)

Evidently, I Was Misinformed

I was wrong about Hillary Duff's alias.
Duffy is actually a Welsh singer...who did not star in a Disney show.

Thanks to Josh for the correction.

Why Does This Make Me Angry?

1) Mel Gibson and Britney Spears are on vacation together

2) Hillary Duff released her new CD under the name Duffy

Neither of these things should bother me as much as they do.
I wish I didn't care--didn't have an opinion--but I do.
I'm just upset...about each of these things.
And I'm more upset about the fact that I kinda do care.
I'm an idiot.

Rehearsal Dinner...

Look Sharp!

I went to see Joe Jackson last night...with my dad. I'm betting that only my mother has any idea who Joe is...or what he sings...but he really was the soundtrack of my childhood. Every few songs, I would think, "I remember this. I love this song." He's great. Check him out.

Saturday Night Starbucks

Bethany and I go to Starbucks twice a day...once in the morning and once around 3 o'clock.
We go to the same one, right by the church...so they all know us (by face, if not by name).
A few of the "partners" know us from Saddleback and so we often will stay and chat for a few minutes.

On Saturday night, I stopped to get us drinks on the way to a girl's bowling night.
One of the girls who works there was asking me about my hair: "Why is it taking so long to be blonde? When will it be done?"
Another girl (Sarah) said, "With your blonde hair, I didn't recognize you. I couldn't figure out who was singing in Crave on Thursday..."

The first girl said, "Wait...you sing? Wow. You're like the whole package: you're super cute, and you sing!"
I said, "Umm...can you tell boys this? Thank you for saying that."

Seriously...she made my whole night.
I couldn't wait to tell Bethany.
