I Said, "Reading is Good."

I love reading.
Love. It.

For my 26th birthday, I made a list of 30 Things to do Before I'm 30.
Number One on the list? "Read over 100 books"

I am currently 28.
And in the last two years, (since I made the list) I have read 35 books. (Embarrassing. Mostly because I read 14 between October 2008 and February 2009 and 8 in the last 4 months. The time in-between, just sad.) I really need to step-it-up. (I'm on a real kick right now, having finished The Hunger Games trilogy--which, I have now mentioned three posts in a row--that's how much I enjoyed it.)

Saturday night, after deciding against the purchase of a Kindle, I ordered a few books on Amazon.com. (Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck, and The Imperfectionists: A Novel by Tom Rachman.)

But, since those books won't arrive until tomorrow, I went to Barnes and Noble tonight for a few books to pass the time while I wait. The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner (because they've been talking about it in season 1 of Parenthood) and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad (because I watched "Apocalypse Now" last night (which is based on this Conrad novel)...off of the AFI Top 100 List. Also on my 30 Things List "watch 75 of the Top 100 Movies". I'm at 64.)

What are you reading?

I love reading maybe more than you...
as you know I completed the Millennium Trilogy a few days ago, thanks to you, and I am anxious to talk with you about these books...it's been a long time since I'm able to get feed back on books someone has also read...
and, I am re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird...I started reading it this morning before work and couldn't put it down for 55 pages...
it's way better than the first time I read it maybe a few years after the movie came out...
sorry, but I don't have much work today so I have to get back to the Harper Lee 50th anniversary edition...

The Mockingjay trilogy was good. i struggled thru the last book, bug overall a good series.
I love the show Parenthood (just bought season 1 at Target for $9.99) and was thinking about The Sound and the Fury. Let me know how it is.
Currently reading:
The Charlatan's Boy by Jonathan Rogers
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (rereading all before the last movie)
And I'm also reread To Kill A Mockingbird. Again.
Spiritual Rhythm by Mark Buchanan, one of my favorite writers.
Sun Stand Sill by Steven Furtick
Decision Points by George Bush
And just read Rob Bell's Drop Like Stars the other night.
There are another 5 or 6 books that I'm a few chapters into as well. I have trouble focusing.
enjoy.

I'm reading Making Rounds with Oscar by David Dosa. It is about a cat the lives in a nursing and rehabilitation center. It is one of those books that really makes you think about life.

I am currently reading Heart of Darkness for school...just to warn you, it is extremely hard to get. My teacher informed us that we probably won't even begin to make sense of it until a few years down the road. So get ready!
