New House: Day 1

So...today I started moving in! Amanda and Rachel stopped by this morning to check it out and each offered some really great "moving in" suggestions...

I couldn't really figure out where to begin...I was trying so hard to think of what I would need to live and all I could think of was food.

So, we went to Target. The dollar section had serving utensils, so I bought a bunch of those...they also had a giant measuring cup, so I bought that too.

I felt like, to be working in a house for the next week, there would need to be some food. Here's what is now in my cupboards: lime tortilla chips, honey bunches of oats with almonds, chocolate milk mix, single-serving cheeses, Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper and milk. Really, who wouldn't want to party at my house?

Zack took the doors off of my cupboards while I (growing increasingly frustrated) contact papered--really, someone with a college degree should be able to work a roll of contact paper.

My mom bought me a giant basket of house supplies, so I put all of that away...ran a load in the dishwasher with all of the dishes that were in the house: my new serving utensils, measuring cup, four Rubbermaid containers, and six wine glasses that my mom inherited from my grandparents.

It was so nice to have everything cleaned up and feeling on its way to being a home...I still have three more days off work to keep moving!

We finished the night at the new house laying in the middle of my empty living room watching The O.C. on DVD, eating pizza and drinking soda out of my newly-washed wine glasses.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow as it comes together even more!

Here's the plan: dishes, some clothing, towels, picture frames, books, refrigerator magnets, wireless Internet, cable and TV, a phone...
