My Camping Trip

I mentioned that I don't love camping...but I did manage to camp and stay alive...and I returned home with such great stories...

We made it out to the campground (in the middle of nowhere...our campground was totally isolated).

The girls set up our tents configuring them based on who would be attacked first and from what side. My feelings exactly.

Then I made a can of pork and beans.

As I set out plates and utensils, I looked to my right and said, calmly to Matt, "Oh, look. A tarantula." At this, Brian (another leader) begins to scream like a little girl. Bethany, who is obviously a big baby, screams louder than all of the other junior highers (whose attention had been piqued by Brian's scream. So, everyone is yelling and screaming..."Get the lighter fluid!" "Step on it!" "Get a shovel!"

Since I am filled with Julie Hibbard DNA, I picked up two paper plates and walked over to the spider. I followed him a bit, talking in a soothing "I'm not going to harm you, friend." voice, scooted him on to one plate and held him with the other. The students screamed, so I dropped him once...but I apologized, picked him up again and brought him to the nearby field.

Seriously, since I'm never going camping again, I am so glad I had a great story to tell...

I also learned that moths like to stay warm on a cold night by landing in hot chocolate.

Oh, and that wearing headlights make you look like an idiot...but also make it easier to go to the bathroom when it's dark outside.

Thank goodness we don't have critters like that in the UK

I am so glad you didn't harm that beautiful creature! He is lovely! Look at you being the hero and cooking dinner to boot!!
Sounds like a very fun adventure. Now, back to putting that house together. That is a butt load of work for a practical joke!!
