Could You Be Any Less Friendly?

I am not always the friendliest girl. Most of the time I am quick to judge. Quick to dismiss. Quick to alienate.

I'm trying to work on that.

In effort to do so, I have decided to make eye contact and say hello to people: in the store, in the restroom, out front of the office. Anytime it's just me and one other person, I will make an effort to say hello...or, at the very least, smile.

Today, I was realizing how rude it is not to smile or make eye contact. I was in the restroom with one other girl that I've known (as an acquaintance) since high school and she stared at the counter the entire time. I wasn't asking for full-fledged conversation, just an acknowledgment of existence. So, finally I said, hello. And she quickly said hey and ran out.

Also today, I was inspired by Lisa's post and told the woman working at Coffee Bean that she had beautiful skin. (This was the second of three terrible coffees today, but that's for another time.)

How can you be friendlier today?

I have never known you to NOT be friendly! You love (and KNOW!) everyone...
People may be a TAD intimidated by your confidence and security...and ability to light up a room and grab the attention of every one in it!
Seriously.
I don't think you could be any MORE friendly...

I know a lot of ways to be LESS friendly, like your bathroom friend. But ways to me MORE friendly....I guess I could stop doing some of the mean things i usually do. Or open a door for someone today, that will be my goal for today (or the week).
