I just spent a few hours tutoring my cousin in math... My aunt rolled her eyes at me for saying I think it's stupid that they won't let him use a calculator on tests...
I also got the eye-roll when I said the title of the Math book was super dumb.
We have spent the ENTIRE day studying and tutoring kids in preparation for finals this week! Holly tutored a friend and I am not sure how much "tutoring" got done because I heard TONS of giggling...oh well, so much for STUDY DAY!
I took "math" long into college and NEVER learned to properly use a calculator. I STILL have no idea how to do percentages on them... I believe the schools should let the kids use the calculators too! If they can figure out how to get the right answer on a calculator...they should get extra credit! Remember when you wanted to be a math teacher! You would have been a very good one. Of course you are good at everything you do. :)
