A Long Time Ago...We Used To Be Friends...

We watched the first two episodes of Veronica Mars last night.

I prefaced it with:
1) The first three episodes are kinda lame, but then it gets really good.
2) If you hate it, don't tell me about it...just go do something else.
3) Chris, if you watch an entire season, I'll buy you a steak dinner...

So, we sat down...Steve left the room. Chris said, "I just want you to know I'm only watching this because I like steak."

Three girls (Caroline, Megan and Andrea) professed their love for the show after one episode.

Chris proposed to Veronica during the second hour.

This morning, I walk in the kitchen and Chris says, "So we can watch more Veronica Mars tonight, right?" When I joked about watching it without him today, he got really serious and said, "please don't...okay?"

Caroline said, "I just got really excited about something...I got excited to watch more Veronica Mars"...

Chris replied, "I know. I almost cried last night when I found out she was raped. I would hate for that to happen to my daughter."

Thank you, Veronica, for being so lovable. You create community all over the world.

Done and Done.

I just finished Twilight.
I'm still wiping tears from my eyes.
If we weren't leaving for dinner in 30 minutes, I would begin book 2...but I'll wait until tonight.

Seriously. I handed it right to Megan...hopefully she'll love it too.

AND...we're beginning Veronica Mars tomorrow night...I brought the DVDs and the projectors set-up! Can't wait for these girls to be hooked!

I Want To Date a Vampire...

I mean...

I'm only 150 pages in to the first book of the Twilight series and I LOVE it! I can't stop smiling about Edward's interactions with Bella...

Honestly, I don't want to talk to anyone, I don't want to go out...I don't want to eat or sleep, I just want to read...want them to love each other...

It's as if I started a new TV series on DVD...like smiling about Logan and Veronica...or Ryan and Marisa kissing on the Ferris Wheel.

I can't wait to read them all...and see the movie!

Thanks Kate for the gift!

Breakfast Memories

I made myself French Toast for breakfast this morning.
As I cooked it, I told Caroline and Megan about how my Grandma makes the best French Toast...and how I used to eat everyday over summer while watching Price is Right...and drinking Dr. Pepper...

I ate it today (and it was quite delicious), but I had to drink coke, since there is no D.P to be found in Kitale...

Bum, I love ya!

Papa, can you make sure she sees this, please! (Love you too!)

Dear Television,

I am slightly ashamed at how much I miss you.
If I were in America, I would be completely caught up on Project Runway.

I also would have watched all of One Tree Hill, How I Met Your Mother and some of 24.

Which reminds me...tell your friend, high-speed internet, that I also miss his company...He would be a big help in my television-withdraw.

Just know you are loved and missed by someone,
Allison

Can We Drive-Thru?

This morning, as I was preparing to eat peanut butter toast (for the fifteenth day in a row), I asked Steve if we could please just drive through McDonald's.

He said, he'd prefer Claim Jumper (some ribs)...

Daina asked if we could also get some edamame
.
I said, Oh, and Chipotle!

Caroline said she'd prefer McDonald's, so she'll drive through and meet us at Chipotle.

Then we decided to stop at Starbucks on the way back to the office.

Oh...I miss it...

In My Head...In My Head...

I've had these ridiculous songs stuck in my head during the last few days:

* Who Let the Dogs Out--Baja Men

* Sk8r Boi--Avril Lavigne

* I'll Make Love to You--Boys II Men

I've had to apologize to our group...but now, Who Let the Dogs Out is funny...or at least it is to me.

Hey! Check These Out!

So, hopefully you're reading my Kenya blog...
Here's the link

Also, Chris and Caroline are here, too...so check out their blogs!

Oh Yikes.

I have a little bit of reading to do in the next few days.
Josh Griffin was #2 with 45 posts.
Only The Sartorialist could out-post him (49 posts).

Can't wait to catch up on the lives of my friends!

Vitamin C: Graduation Song

When I graduated from High School, we sang the Vitamin C "Graduation Song".
Last night, we were singing in again and I was caught on the line:

"And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25"

Yikes. Remember being 18 and thinking 25 was so old?
I love that "the future" would be 25.
I love that 25 would be "the rest of our lives".

And who would ever have thought that I would be in Africa when I was 25?
I would never have imagined that as a 17-year-old.
Such a ridiculous song...for so many reasons...

More Things that Bother Me

I figured this isn't a very kind post, so it shouldn't go on the blog about my mission trip...

I can't stand it when people:

1) Lean their head on my shoulder when I don't know them
2) Eat food off of my plate without asking
3) Ask to eat food off my plate
4) Say "A.K.A"

That's it.
