I've done this same survey for the last two years...so, why not once more?
1) What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Moved to Kenya, helped open the Refinery, ran programming point for PDYM SLC, washed my clothes in a basin, rode a bus to N. Kenya, watched a chicken slaughtered, rode an ostrich and a camel, celebrated Christmas away from home
2) Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I've had the same resolution for the last two years: to be smarter. I think I've manage to keep it
3) Did anyone close to you give birth?
SO many people: Sue, Amanda, Erin, Nats, Jana, Courtney, Nicole...
4) Did anyone close to you die?
Yep, my Nana
5) What countries did you visit?
Kenya and England
6) What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A smaller dress size, a grasp on the Swahili language--same as last year...
7) What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Oh gosh...so many...for ridiculous reasons
8) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Moving to Kenya...I didn't win any awards or even any medals...which I would consider to be achievements...so I'm not sure I know...I acheived most of my 25 things while I'm 25 list...that's a something.
9) Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope. I think I have an immune system of steel...and I don't do many crazy things that would cause injury.
10) What was the best thing you bought?
My Christian Louboutins
11) Whose behavior merited celebration?
What a strange question...I guess I would celebrate Josh Pease for his help with SLC...I would also celebrate Luke and Katie Shannon and the Edward for helping me move my entire life around in trucks...
12) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Again, what a crazy question...I could say I was depressed at some of the Oasis boys sniffing glue...
13) Where did most of your money go?
Rent, Urban Outfitters, Starbucks, Kenya.
14) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
SLC, moving to Kenya, Katie and Ryanne's visit
15) What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Somebody Loved" by The Weepies, "No One Like You" by P Squared, "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michelson
16) Compared to this time last year, are you: Wiser? Yes Healthier? Slightly... Richer? Definitely not
17) What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sat outside
18) What do you wish you'd done less of?
Complained
19) How did you spend Christmas?
We went to Oasis' Christmas on Christmas Eve Eve. On Christmas Eve, I drew pictures to decorate the house and we had a dinner for 13. On Christmas Day, we went to church and then had dinner with the Oasis House boys while watching Harry Potter 4.
20) Did you fall in love in 2008?
Yes, sort of...but I fall in love pretty quickly
21) What was your favorite TV program?
Grey's, The Office, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Alias, Project Runway
22) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
So many people...No, not really
23) What was the best book you read?
History of Love
24) What was your greatest musical discovery?
Classical music (Thank you, Dom)
25) What did you want and get?
A kiss, the chance to be a bridesmaid, to move to Kenya, a job with PDYM
26) What did you want and not get?
I'm not sure.
27) What was your favorite film of this year?
Dark Knight
28) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
26, I rode an ostrich and had home-made tortilla chips...I know, what a party animal.
29) Which celebrity/public figure did you like the most?
Michael Vartan, The Sartorialist
30) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
The first half: dresses and heels. The second half: jeans and t-shirts
31) What kept you sane?
Chris. TV on DVD. Books.
32) Who did you miss?
My friends and family
33) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Wherever you go, there you are...thank you, Mike Brady
34) What did you gain this year?
A few pounds
35) What did you lose this year?
A few pounds
36) Who was the best new person you met?
I'm not sure I can pick just one...but I sure love Bushuru.
37) Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I miss you more than I should, than I thought I would...can't get my mind off of you."

Boxing Day
Today is my very first Boxing Day.
I think it would have gone unrecognized save for the fact that all of the stores are closed and the museum entrance is free...
I was interested to know more about the day...and here is what I found:
I think it would have gone unrecognized save for the fact that all of the stores are closed and the museum entrance is free...
I was interested to know more about the day...and here is what I found:
- It is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society. Contemporary Boxing Day in many countries is now a "shopping holiday" associated with after-Christmas sales.
- As with Christmas itself, some elements of Boxing Day are also likely related to, and ultimately derived from, the ancient Roman Saturnalia, which also had elements of gift giving and social role reversal.
- In the countries that observe this holiday, 26 December is commonly referred to as Boxing Day, no matter what day of the week it occurs. However, in some countries, fixed-date holidays falling on Saturday or Sunday are often observed on the next weekday. Technically, Boxing Day cannot be on a Sunday - that day being the officially recognized day of worship, so traditionally it was the next working day of the week following Christmas Day, (i.e. any day from Monday to Saturday). In recent times this tradition has been either forgotten or ignored, and 26 December is considered by most to be Boxing Day when it falls on a Sunday. 1993 was the last year when 26 December was called Christmas Sunday in the UK; in 1999, the next time the date fell on a Sunday, it was Boxing Day.
So...now you know...and, you know what they say...knowing is...

Love Is All Around
We watched Love Actually last night...and I cried, of course.
Airport greetings and goodbyes get me every time.
I don't even need to see it, I can just hear about it:
"Airports see it all the time,
when someone's last goodbye
blends in with someone's sigh,
'cause someone's coming home,
in hand a single rose"
...makes me teary-eyed every time.
It will be my turn to make an airport return soon...I wonder if the real thing will be as emotionally moving as the songs and movies about it? I hope so.
There Really Is A First Time For Everything
I finished an entire bottle of vitamins today...
This is the first time I have ever taken every vitamin in the bottle...usually it sits in my medicine cabinet for a year and then is thrown away because they are expired.
Not this time...

Two Things I Love Right Now...
1) No. Not Paris (I still kinda hate that place...though the desire to re-visit and make new decisions is growing on me). I love this picture.2) "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michelson. I love the entire Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs CD, but I especially love this song...
My voice; a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light,
to carry you to me.
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love
This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
cause you're not where you belong;
inside my arms.
I love Christmas.

Dear Amanda,
I miss your face. I know I could email just you, but I wanted to publicly state my feelings of longing for you and your family. I am very excited to spend some time with you when I return home...and I hope this time includes some of your too-many-chocolate-chips homemade cookies. I also hope it includes the Group conference because last year was really fun.
So, just so you know, I love you...lots and lots...
And I'm very excited to laugh with you, in America, in about 10 weeks.

For The Record...
The post-it note was half covered.
It should say "he kicked him in the penis" ads...you know, the medical commercials?
It was a brainstorm post-it for PDYM...
Sorry that it makes me look totally creepy...
but I wanted to set the record straight...

Of the simple, yellow, square variety.
None of this heart-shaped or fake-bite-taken-out...
Give me the original.
I love them so much that I even use them on my computer.
A lot.
Here's a screen-shot of my Stickies application.

Christm(iss)
Target sent me an email this morning, reminding me that Target is the place to go for all of my Christmas needs...
I can picture walking through Targets (RSM, Foothill, the new one) at Christmastime.
I'm really sad to be missing it this year...I love Christmas...
Someone take (and post) some photos of stores decorated for Christmas...please.

Turns Out
When I say "I mean, clearly you can do whatever you want", it's my knee-jerk response to "I think you are making a stupid decision, but it's not big enough to fight you on, so make it anyway and you'll be sorry...or at least you should be sorry"
I learned that this morning.
I learned that this morning.

Ryanne's Tattoo
Ryanne has decided that when she gets a tattoo, it will be a pictogram about the first Thanksgiving. As you can see, it's Pilgrim, Ear of Corn, Indian Princess, Cooked Turkey.
I told her there should probably be some mention of all of the diseases we brought to the first Thanksgiving, but her mind's made up.

Things That I Think All The Time That Are Super "Mom" Things To Say:
1. Push in your chair
2. There are no need for lights in the daytime--open the blinds!
3. Put those things back where you found them
4. Don't leave your dirty dishes in the sink
5. Turn the lights off when you leave the room
6. When you spill on the stove, clean it up...don't let it harden there
7. Don't leave food out, we'll get ants
8. Shhh...people are still sleeping
9. Can you turn that down? It doesn't have to be so loud
10. Don't forget to take your medicine

My Friend Katie...
Let me tell you a story about my friend, Katie.
When I was moving to Kenya, she told me to save a spot in my suitcase "this big" and she showed me a size using her hands.
The night I was leaving, she handed me a giant stack of letters. Around 97, I think.
I had saved that suitcase space, so I packed them in.
I was supposed to read one a day...but I was pretty homesick in my first few weeks, so I read most of them then. Yesterday, I pulled out the stack and read through each one.
Here are a few reasons I love these cards:
Man, I love her.
And I get to see her (and Ryanne!) in only 6 days!

Here are a few reasons I love these cards:
- Every card from Ron is signed with his first and last name.
- One card from Abby is filled with photos of her--like a modeling photo shoot
- Katie loves Kitale as much as I do (maybe more). So a few of the cards were about her being jealous that I'm here and she's not!
- One card was written from Chipotle telling me to hurry back.
- There were cards with photos of us, a photo of Justin Timberlake, a Schrute buck, Milo Ventmiglia, Jim Halpert
- There were Bible verses about listening to God...seeking wisdom...perfect for what's happening here now
- The last card is a birthday card...a woman surrounded by boxes of high heels...how well does Kate know me...seriously?
Man, I love her.
And I get to see her (and Ryanne!) in only 6 days!
Sleepless in Seattle
This afternoon, I watched Sleepless in Seattle...
I watch it every few months, usually alone because, honestly, who could I possibly convince to watch this with me?
Today's viewing was similar...I watched this classic film, alone, with my laptop and headphones...
There was, however, one small change: I cried. Twice.
I have seen this movie at least 30 times and I have never cried. Not once. Not even on the first viewing. Today...twice.
Once when Sam Baldwin says, "Maggie, my wife...she made everything beautiful"
And again, at the very end, when Sam says, "Shall we?"
Seriously?

Still More Lyrics I Love
I made a playlist during one of the very long van rides we've had so far on this trip...I listen to it every once in a while and a few of the songs have lyrics that have caught my attention...and my affection.
How many of these songs can you name?
I believe that my life’s gonna see the love I give returned to me
I miss you more than I should, than I thought I could
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make
My heart is yours. It’s you that I hold on to
How happy it would make me to see your face when I awake
He used to do surgery for girls in the 80s, but gravity always wins
Love is a poor man’s food, no prophesying
Strange that I was wrong enough, to think you loved me too, guess you were kissing a fool

Me and Mr...Mr Sloane
I'm halfway through season 4 of Alias. I'm hooked.
I remember watching most of season two at the McGills (with the Casserly sisters--who had a dance to the theme song)...and I was never really that in to it.
Maybe it's the distance from new TV...maybe it's Vaughn...maybe it's the JJ Abrams signature twists and turns...
Whatever it is, I plan to finish the series in a week...just in time for more TV to arrive!

I'm Blue...
It's almost my birthday...at least in this part of the world...about 2 1/2 hours...and I'm hitting the peak of homesickness.
I'm sitting here, at the dining room table, silently crying. I don't want to rouse suspicions of my roommates, since neither can be a real comfort to me in this moment.
I was just thinking, I've never been alone on my birthday...even when I lived in London, my parents and Alanna came to visit.
I know I'm not alone alone...I know there are two really fun people here with me...but they are not people that I live everyday life with...they're not my circle...and I am lonesome for that closeness tonight.
We will have cake, and I'm going to ride a camel...but I've never been so sad to miss Chipotle birthday lunch...and Fuddrucker family dinner...and funfetti cupcakes...
Two of my very best friends are coming to visit in a week...so that will definitely help...
I know I am just being a girl...and over-reacting...but I'm really, really sad tonight...

Thirty Things To Do Before I'm Thirty...
I made a list of 25 things to do while I was 25...but I will be 26 in 2 days...so, I guess I didn't make them all happen...13 though, not too bad.
Since I couldn't make 25 happen in one year, I thought my next list will have a longer deadline. So..here is my list of 30 things to do before I'm 30: (all are tangible things...and I have 4 years...so, here goes nothing)...

That's A Great Name...Seven!
I was tagged by Jess (I think I like you enough to call you that...is that okay?!)
So...here goes nothing:
1. I am a total book snob
I refuse to read anything on Target's Best-seller or "Recommended reads" shelf (the Classic shelf does not count in this). I also refuse to read anything that has been recommended by Oprah. I know I've missed out on some great books because of this, but I'm sticking to it nonetheless. (Oh, admission of guilt: I recently read "The Kite Runner" which had a Target sticker on it...but we were in Kakuma and there were no other books to read. So I think this is an acceptable exception.)
2. I cry about everything
I know this isn't a little-known fact, but it's definitely weird. Two weeks ago I cried when Daina made pumpkin bread because the smell reminded me of home. Last week I cried listening to "Hey There Delilah" because Dominik sang it one time and I miss him. Yesterday I cried talking about my friend Katie getting married. Big or small...the floodgates open.
3. I love to name fonts
I pride myself on knowing the names of fonts and trying to impart my knowledge on others...usually people don't care...but I love to point at a box of cereal and say, "$1 if you can name that font"
4. I talk to the TV
Alone, with others, watching TV on DVD on my laptop--wearing headphones...doesn't matter. I'm going to say, "Oh no!" or "Eww..." I am exactly what the writers are hoping for because I take all of my cues: cry here, gasp here, hate this character...I'm in.
5. I don't eat four-legged animals
I have always said I don't eat red meat, but I don't eat pork either. I stole the 4-legged bit from my friend, Becca, and it actually makes the most sense. I eat chicken, fish and turkey...no steak, ham, or even burgers for the last year or so. I do my best to make sure my eating habits don't effect the people around me: I'll eat all side dishes when meat is on the menu...no big deal.
6. I have lived in three of my four favorite cities in the world...there's one left
I have lived in London and Kitale (and, of course, OC--which is so run-together that I'm counting it as one city). The one place I would still love to live is New York. I'm not sure if or when that could happen, but I would like to mark that off of my life-list.
7. I know very little about music...and I'm okay with that
I don't listen to the radio. I don't read Rolling Stone. I don't seek out new Indy bands. I listen to music I know that I love, regardless of how long it's been on the shelf. I am totally content to listen to the same Ray LaMontagne album followed by Queen's Greatest Hits in to a little Kate Nash and then some Sinatra...I get some new music from friends or commercials, but I'm typically a month behind.
I tag: Adam, Ryanne, Allegra, Katelyn, Eliane, Josh Treece and Rachel.
So...here goes nothing:

Day 500 (Final Update)
As my 500th post, I made a list of goals that I would like to reach by 500 days from that day. (I am now at post 1,258.)
Here's the link to the original post...Day 500 was October 2, 2008.
Day 100, Day 200, Day 300, Day 400. (Weird how quickly time goes.)
* Read at least 23 books...CHECK
I can list them for you, if you'd like to read some of them...they were almost all really well written.
* Write something (a short story, some poetry, a song, a YM resource)...CHECK
* Weigh 135.
Nope
* Speak near-fluent Swahili.
Nope...but someday!
* Travel to at least 10 countries I have not been to before.
I didn't make it to ten...I made it to three. What a slow travel time this year...or I keep going back to the same places.
* Be financially independent...CHECK
* Have serious Kenya-living plans...CHECK
Oh, I live here.
* Be en route to a Master's degree.
Nope...and this may not be a reality ever...my how things change
* Record...CHECK
* Laugh a lot. Loudly and a lot...CHECK
Of course...
I liked this...it reminded me to keep trying...
I've already started my next list which I'll post tomorrow.

Harry Potter Humor
Like I said, we're all reading HP. Chris is reading book 6 and I'm reading book 7...
So now everything is a HP joke waiting to happen.
This, yesterday during a play...can you guess?
Yep, the Goblet of Fire. Then, a little girl was carrying the stick with which they are beaten in class...I yelled, "Chris! That girl has a wand!" He tried "Expelliarmus!" (It didn't work.) I tried "Alohomora" and "Wingardium Leviosa" (neither of which worked).
More to come, I'm sure.

If Peeing Your Pants Is Cool, Consider Me Miles Davis
Tonight, we arrived at dinner and noticed that the little boy who lives in the house had peed his pants. So, Chris mentioned something about a time when he peed his pants...
I realized that I've never blogged about this story...and it's worth it:
Once, when I was about 4 or 5, I went to my friend's house to play...in my favorite outfit.
I was having so much fun that I didn't want to stop what I was doing to go to the bathroom.
So I just peed. Right there on her bedroom floor.
But I didn't tell her.
I just got up, pushed the Barbie Dream House box over the wet spot and went home.
When I got home, my mom knew what had happened (obviously).
To teach me a lesson, she told me pee doesn't come out of clothing...and she threw my favorite outfit in the trash.
I learned my lesson: from then on I paused Barbie Mansion-fun to go to the bathroom.
Also, the only other time my mom threw my favorite outfit away was when I left slime (from the 25-cent dispenser at the grocery store) in the pocket of my dress and it dyed all of the laundry yellow.
So, both times, I've deserved it.
You're welcome for sharing. Your turn...
Have you ever peed your pants?

Dear JK Rowling...
Each of the three people in our house is currently reading a Harry Potter book.
In the last two months I have read 4, 5 and 6. I was supposed to receive 7 when my friends visit next month, but I could not wait...so I bought it in town yesterday.
I passed 6 on to Chris.
Daina has never read them, so she bought 1, 2 and 3 yesterday and will read the rest that I brought along.Chris wanted to make sure everyone could see how British we are...Harry Potter, tea, biscuits and Cadbury.
We are also totally nerdy these days and speak about HP as if it's real: tonight I told Chris that chocolate is so good post-Dementor attack...He said, "So true"

I'm Not Voting
I didn't vote in the last election (because I was in London).
I won't vote in this election (because I am in Kenya).
I know, I know...Every vote counts...
By the looks of all things Election '08, I'm really glad I'm not in America right now.
I can't imagine the commercials and billboards and conversations if I am finding these
on Twitter and Myspace.
I'm not un-American...I'm simply uninterested in politics (mostly because I'm not smart enough to understand them)...so, please don't berate me for my lack of support...

We Are The Members Of The All-American League
Last night, we watched A League of Their Own.
I love this movie...I've seen it at least 25 times, but for some reason, last night, I almost cried four or five times while watching it. I don't know why...it just choked me up a bit.
So, I say, "This movie is really getting to me tonight. I've almost cried a few times."
And, to my surprise, Chris' response is, "Me too! I just didn't want to say anything because I thought you would laugh at me!"
Then, as the movie was ending, we were interested to learn more about Women's Baseball. So, of course, we googled it. We read all about their 11 years of play and even learned that they are taking a cruise for their 2008 reunion.
I asked, "Is there anything about the first African-American female to play? Wait, what year did Jackie Robinson start?"
So we looked up Jackie Robinson and found that he began playing in the middle of the women's baseball league craze. Logically, that would have opened the doors for African-American women, right?
I got on Wikipedia and clicked baseball color line to see if there was anything about the first female. Then I found a link to African-American Firsts. I clicked there and read through that list...mayors, baseball coaches and owners, first inter-racial TV kiss, but no women's baseball.
I did the next logical thing: I twittered my question...and then went to sleep.
I woke up this morning to my answer:
Thank you, TS, for helping increase my baseball knowledge.
Shame on you, Google and Wikipedia, for not yielding the results I needed.

These Are The Things That Interest Me
Okay...so, I'm laying on the couch, reading Harry Potter and the lights go out.
So, I turn on my cell phone flashlight to continue reading...and then I hear Daina say, "Hey...they found a new prime number today. It's 13 million digits."
My response: "That's amazing. That's seriously exciting to me...but how can 13-million digits not be divisible by anything?"
So, I couldn't wait to have my turn on the internet to look up this article.
Note: I also looked up the end of Yankee Stadium...that was interesting. I would love to see the news reel on the final day, so if someone could post that when it happens, I would be grateful.
All this to say, if you know someone who is super nerdy and kinda hot...send him my way.

Mustache Week 'Oh Great
Small Luxuries
I am realizing more and more about myself through this trip in Kenya.
In the last week, I've been making (in my mind) a short list of things I love...small luxuries that I took for granted in America, but now seem to be things that I would almost say are "non-negotiable" for my life in America.
* Magazines: I love reading magazines: Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Entertainment Weekly, People...I miss them
* Window shopping: I don't need to buy...I just like to look. Last night I looked at Urban Outfitters.com, now I'm on Anthropologie.com...I don't need any of this stuff, I can hardly afford anything at Anthropologie, I just miss looking around the store at all of the pretty things. (This applies to Target, too)
* Bookstores: Again, I don't need to buy, I just miss the smell of new books.
* Starbucks: Fine, judge me. I just like sugary coffee...
* Big, comfy couches: Right now I am sitting in two chairs pushed together to be a couch...we have a couch, but it's super hard...I would love, love to be sitting on my over-stuffed purple couch right now.
* Carpet: I like to lay on the floor...I love to spread out my stuff and even nap on the ground...we have a painted cement floor here and I still lay on the ground, but not as much since it's not-so-comfortable and kinda dirty...
* Texting: I love texting...and I totally, totally miss being able to text people during awkward situations or boring meetings...
* Phone Internet: I love to look things up...and I have to remember to come home and look them up without my phone Google...I know, what an inconvenience.
* Alone Time: Most people see me as an extrovert...but I am definitely becoming an introvert. I am so much more recharged by quiet, alone time than I am by large groups.
* Dresses and heels: I have worn jeans and a T-Shirt pretty much everyday since we've been here...I do have one or two skirts that are thrown-in to the mix, but still with T-Shirts...I have come to notice that I am sad not to have dresses to wear...oh, and another but tennis shoes and flip-flops.
I'm sure I'll think of more...this is just a start.

My Nana Died Last Night
Weird.
I have been told my entire life that she wasn't going to live for very much longer.
When I was four, my mom told me that I should "kiss Nana because this will probably be her last Christmas". It became something we said, not something we actually believed. Until now.
Weird.
I remember "Nana kisses"...her lips puckered so much that it was practically a fish-face...
I remember getting cards from her and laughing at how many times a sentence was underlined...or my Christmas card last year that had EVERY WORD underlined...she really meant that card.
I remember talking at the top of my lungs and her still only barely being able to hear me. I can picture my Papa's face over her shoulder...he and I laughing at the joke that she didn't get...
Weird.
I remember when she and Grandpa moved out of their house and we went to "claim" things...I took the cuckoo clock (which has so many memories that I'm not sure how I was lucky enough to get it)...I also took the love birds, which I am constantly made fun of for, but now seem like such valuable items...I also remember putting her fake boobs (she had a double-mastectomy) in my shirt...first as bra padding, then as shoulder pads...funny.
I remember eating food at her house for Christmas dinner...gnocchi...which, though the years we began to refer to as "n-yucky" because she had just lost her touch...hours of sitting at her house with promise of a McDonald's drive-thru on the way home since we hadn't eaten enough to make us full.
I remember going to her house and being asked at least a dozen times if we were hungry...and, even though we would say we had just eaten, she was already making a sandwich.
I remember drinking a Coke at her house...and it was slightly off...then, looking at the can, we realized it was from the 1980 Olympics (oh, and this was in 1999).
Weird.
I read my aunt Sarah's blog tonight and it said, "My Last Letter From Nana" and I thought, did she die? Being on the other side of the world, I'm not as easily reachable for important news (texts don't make it to Africa). There was no way she had died. She was never going to die. They've been threatening me with her fake-inevitable-death since I was a kid.
Weird.
I guess I really thought it was never going to happen.
I definitely didn't think I would be so sad when it did.
She was 95. She lived a long, long life.
She has so many stories...and such a great legacy...
Weird that she's not around anymore.
I call dibs on the scrapbook that has the photo of her and Grandpa with the chained-up bear.

My Amazon.com
Here are a few things I've recently added to my Amazon.com cart.
I suppose it's unrealistic to assume they would ship to Kenya...but it will be waiting for my purchase when I arrive in CA.
Grey's Anatomy Season 4
Heroes Season 2
Smallville Season 7
LOST Season 4
Such a great first month home, right? Lots of re-watching (with iced nonfat caramel macchiato in-hand)

Mosquit-Oh no!
Last night, as I lay awake trying to decide between being eaten by the mosquito I could hear in my ear and sweating to death under the covers...I remembered a story about mosquitoes.
The summer before 6th grade, I went to camp. This was the same camp at which I got homesick, threw up in the tent (and my counselor told me to go outside--not sad or helpful--since she had just been broken-up with by her boyfriend Jeff Maguire), the next morning I was sick again at breakfast and met Katie Edwards in the bathroom (and she's been my best friend ever since) also, the same camp that I did not wear a bright yellow sweat suit (even though Katie is convinced I did...that was Autumn from my cabin and I can prove it from the camp photo).
Anyway--the mosquito part.
Last night, I remembered sitting at the breakfast table listening to a girl from my cabin tell a story. But, I wasn't actually listening because she had a mosquito on her face and all I could do was watch it--I didn't even tell her.
I thought, as I lay there last night, that I wish I could remember her name so I could "publicly" apologize...then, I thought, if I didn't tell her, then it probably happened to me and she didn't tell me...So forget it, mosquito-faced girl, I'm not sorry.

Did You Know?
That you can help a kid eat, be educated and stay healthy
for just $10 a month?
I know that sounds like a gimmick...a commercial...but seriously...
10 people each giving $10 a month...that's a lot of money, right?
Pray about it.
If you feel like you'd like to help...let me know.

No Better Way...I Know...
Who says I can't watch TV on DVD in Africa?
Nobody.
So, I've watched the entire first season of "One Tree Hill" and I'm about 3 episodes away from completing the first season of "How I Met Your Mother".
Up next?
Season 2 of HIMYM
Alias (the complete series)
and then (if there's time) 24 (the entire series)
I know this is not a very interesting post...I just miss this blog.
It's weird to think that things will be reversed in a few months...

I Love Wizard Rock
I can't sleep, so I'm shopping iTunes.
I was searching Oliver Boyd and the Rememberalls (because who doesn't love songs written about Harry Potter?) and came across an album called "Wizards and Muggles Rock for Social Justice"
No promises for what the CD holds, but it seems fun to me...
Some of the song titles:
"Potterwatch"
"Part Werewolf for Hire"
"Maybe Kreacher Will Bring Me a Sandwich"
Some of the band names:
The Moaning Myrtles
Draco and the Malfoys
Gred and Forge
Tom Riddle and Friends (which I was hoping they would be Tom Riddle and the Heartbreakers--how funny would that be?)

As I am logging on to the-slowest-internet-in-the-entire-world (said quickly, as one word), to check my email each day, I have noticed the amount of sites that I get weekly emails from...and I can't wait internet minutes (or MBs) loading the pictures and links (does that make it an html email? flash?--I'd actually like to know this)
I thought it might be "interesting" to make a list of these subscriptions...

I Put My Pants On One Leg At A Time
...But evidently, I always step in right leg first...
Yesterday, I stepped in left leg first, and it was actually really weird...
Wouldn't have thought so...but it was.
Try it, see how it is.

Three Hours
That's how long I've been trying to download Gossip Girl from iTunes.
Any chance you'd like to Tivo all of the shows I'm missing, burn them to DVD and send them here with my friends?
Or even just save them until I come home?
Yikes, I love TV.

Seriously...Sir Shadow?!
Do you want to get me one of these, please?
If not, I'll have to stop by and pick up one for myself next time I'm in New York.
Check out the New York daily photo site!

I Want My Fall TV
I just watched Daina and Caroline do Yoga...but I did not participate.
Instead, I spent the time searching for Fall TV Premiere dates.

Monday:
Heroes (Sept 22)—NBC
Gossip Girl (Sept 1)—The CW
Tuesday:
90210 (Sept 2)—The CW
Wednesday:
LOST (Spring)
Lipstick Jungle (Sept 24)— NBC
Thursday:
The Office (Sept 25)—NBC
Grey’s (Sept 25)—NBC
Smallville (Sept 18)—The CW
Saturday:
SNL (Sept 13)—NBC
Sunday:
Amazing Race (Sept 28)—ABC
Family Guy (Sept 28)—Fox
What are you watching?
Oh, would you mind saving Project Runway for me...Bravo shows are not on iTunes.
